France captain Kylian Mbappe sidestepped a question about which tournament is more challenging to win between the FIFA World Cup and the European Championship.
This comes after France's semifinal exit from the 2024 European Championship following their 2-1 defeat to Spain at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday, July 9.
Mbappe had set up Kolo Muani for the opening goal, but Spain staged a remarkable comeback, scoring twice in four minutes through Lamine Yamal and Dani Olmo.
The defeat ended Mbappe's hopes of winning the Euros with France this year.
Before the tournament, Mbappe had admitted that he found it harder to win the Euros than the World Cup.
However, when asked by Nigerian sports journalist Oma Akatugba if France's elimination was proof of his earlier claim, Mbappe dodged the question, saying,
"I don't know if it's a confirmation, but the truth is that today we go home, and it's hard to go home when you don't win."
Spain will face either England or the Netherlands in Sunday's final, depending on the outcome of the second semifinal clash.
