French Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain and Spanish La Liga leaders Barcelona have confirmed their places in the semi-finals of this season's UEFA Champions League.

Both clubs survived scares on Tuesday night despite recording comfortable victories in their first-leg encounters.

PSG lost 3-2 to Aston Villa at Villa Park but progressed to the last four with a 5-4 aggregate scoreline.

Barcelona also secured qualification to the semi-finals for the first time in six years, advancing with a 5-3 aggregate score.

The Blaugrana suffered a 3-1 defeat to last season's finalists Borussia Dortmund at Signal Iduna Park.

PSG will face the winner of the tie between Real Madrid and Arsenal. The Gunners are ahead in the tie after securing a 3-0 victory in the first leg.

Barcelona will take on either Inter Milan or Bayern Munich. The Nerazzurri lead the tie 2-1 and are favorites to progress to the next stage as they host the Bavarians at home.
