The Edo State Police Command has arrested three men in connection to the rape of a 12-year-old girl allegedly by five men in the state.

This was after an X user, @JemimaOsunde, brought attention to the incident on social media on Tuesday.

According to her, "A 12 yr old girl was raped by five boys in Edo State. Her mother sent her on an errand and they took her into an uncompleted building and did this to her."

She added that the suspects not only raped their victim but also recorded the act and posted it online.

Reacting, the police said three of the suspects were already in their custody, adding that they "are on top of the matter with the hope of arresting the remaining two ASAP."

In another development in Edo, operatives of the Uromi Division arrested 31-year-old Abigail Oluwarotimi for violently assaulting her 15-year-old house help, Jude Joseph.

According to the police, "She used a hot metal object to inflict burn injuries on his laps and genitals, on the allegation that he molested her children."

Miffed by this development, the Commissioner of Police, CP Umoru P. Ozigi, ordered the transfer of the case to the State CID for thorough investigation.
