Edo Governor Monday Okpebholo has been praised for implementing free bus services for residents of the state.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Fred Itua, announced in a statement that the free rides will be provided through the Edo City Transport Service.

He stated that the free bus service will cover Benin metropolis and the three Senatorial Districts (including intra- and intercity routes).

Itua noted that the free bus ride initiative was part of the Okpebholo administration’s plan to solidify his policy direction and enhance the welfare of all Edo people.

“The bus services will ease the transportation stress. Our people who plan to move around within the Benin metropolis and out will be able to do that without any extra financial burdens."

The free transportation scheme will also cover Ekpoma, Iruekpen, Irrua, Uromi, and other areas in Edo Central, as well as Agbede, Auchi, Okpella, Fugar, and other parts of Edo North.

Residents have begun to commend Okpebholo for his dedication to fulfilling his promises to the people.

The Edo Governor has assured residents that all road repairs will be completed and accessible to all residents before Christmas.
