The Kebbi State Police Command has disclosed that its operatives rejected a N1 million bribe offered to it by suspects linked to the terror group, Lakurawa.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, Nafiu Abubakar, on Tuesday in Birnin Kebbi in a statement made available to the press identified the suspects as Umaru Garba (53) of Dangandu village, Alhaji Abubakar Alhaji Mamman (51) of Maimaichi village, both in Arewa Local Government Area, and Usman Muhammadu (50) of Bakaramba village in Argungu Local Government Area.
He indicated that the suspects offered an amount of N1,060,000 to the lead investigator with their original intention to compromise investigations and prosecution of a banditry case involving suspected Lakurawa terrorists operating in northern Kebbi State.
He added that the attempted bribe took place at the premises of the State Criminal Investigation Department, CID, in Gwadangaji, Birnin Kebbi.
The PPRO said the suspects were immediately arrested, and investigations are ongoing, stressing that they will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation, Abubakar stated.
