OAP Dotun has waded into the debate on the nature of podcasts. While many express their displeasure about podcasts being used to harm others, some believe that podcasts provides a safe space for open expression.
Dotun stated that podcasts have no rules and that people should recognise that they are primarily for clickbait.
In a series of posts shared on X on Wednesday, February 19, Dotun advised against expecting professionalism from podcast hosts as there are no set rules for them.
He wrote, “Professionalism on podcast is a choice. It has no guided standard or ethics. However it is safer and best to be to be to avoid law suits and a backlash.
It is in your place to sue if it mars someone’s personality but I am speaking on the platform. The platform is not guided by rules especially for those people that go on it & then expect roses and chocolates. the tools purpose is not guided except u are intentional on setting it.
I have encountered everyone in this fight & there is a good in everyone of them. All of them. Sadly; sometimes the bad is what we all choose to see which is fair. Intent & purpose can hurt when it is directed towards the wrong things or when it lacks a good result.. iree o!
A podcast has no rules. The moment u understand that it is for click-baits, the better. There is no place in the convo where u need to be a professional. If u choose to be; very welcomed. You can have house rules but if u go on a podcast to share ur info; it is not yours anymore.
There is a good & bad in everyone who chose a side or felt hurt. Everyone involved in this fight saved lives at some point but hurt some lives using their platforms too. The difference is one is crucified for the same thing but with a different intent. It’s time to reconsider.
The aftermath is suppose to make you feel safe but where is the safety in showing the world everything we are not suppose to know or the intent of going on a Platform to air another persons dirty linen? Can you see everyone is guilty? The expectations are too high for its purpose.
The crucifixion is justified but it lost its essence. No lesson learnt. We have only built more monsters. Who without sin shld cast the 1st stone. U had a purpose to go on a platform with no rules. Did it serve the purpose? Maybe. Goin on a platform that have no rules is all on u.
Again, we are guilty & it’s just that we might see things differently. We all talk but the reality is we don’t know to what extent. You all have aired peoples dirty linens to someone, so when you go further to mislead the intent of a platform, it shows you forgot what it is for.
A podcast is not guided by rules & ethics. It is not a radio or TV station. When you all use the word “professionalism” in the convo of a podcast, it just shows you all lost the plot. It is curated for click-baits. You all go on it and still have high expectations. It has no rules.”
