Xavi Hernandez has agreed a £5.4m-a-year deal which will see him replace Quique Setien as Barcelona manager.
Setien has been under intense pressure over the club's recent form.
Barcelona currently trail Real Madrid by 4 points after suffering a draw against Atletico Madrid.
This has made the club lose confidence in Setien who replaced sacked manager Ernesto Valverde in January.
Xavi, a former player of the club who joined at age 11 had 767 first-team appearances for Barcelona, scoring 85 goals with 182 assists.
He won eight league titles, four champions league titles, two club World Cup and three Copa Del Rey.
