Atalanta head coach Gian Piero Gasperini has hinted that Ademola Lookman could take on a more prominent leadership role in the team before the end of the current campaign.
Lookman was on target as La Dea thrashed Juventus 4-0 in Serie A on Sunday, March 9.
Mateo Retegui scored the opener in the 29th minute to give Atalanta a 1-0 lead before the half-time break.
Marten De Roon doubled the advantage immediately after the restart, and Davide Zappacosta made it 3-0 twenty minutes later.
Lookman wrapped up the emphatic victory in the 77th minute, sealing a remarkable result for Gian Piero Gasperini's side.
Speaking in his post-match reaction, Gasperini revealed that the Super Eagles star could become the team’s captain before the end of the season.
“When a group spends 300 days together in a year, people can have different views,” Gasperini said.
“Lookman became a fantastic player when he improved his perception of the team. He used to have a more individual approach.
“He wasn’t a bad guy, but he mostly focused on himself. He made Atalanta great, and Atalanta made him great. I am convinced he can be the captain before the end of the season,” he added.
