Luis de la Fuente has signed a contract extension which will see him remain as the head coach of the Spanish men's national team until the end of Euro 2028.
The 63-year-old took over as head coach of the senior side after Luis Enrique's departure and led the team to achieve prominent titles.
The agreement will see De la Fuente earn €3 million per year, matching the salary of former manager Luis Enrique.
According to Footboom, Rafael Louzán, the newly appointed president of the Spanish Football Federation, had prioritized the conclusion of the coach's contract by the end of January.
Louzán recognizes the achievements De la Fuente brought to the national side over the past two years, notably clinching two major tournaments.
The coach first led the team to a UEFA Nations League victory, ending a decade-long trophy drought for the senior national team.
The success was followed by a stellar performance last summer, where he guided them to a memorable Euro Championship, one of the pinnacle moments in the country’s footballing history.
De la Fuente is expected to shift his focus to the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
