The media officer of the Rwanda Football Association, Oliver Maurice has emphasized the need for the Amavubi to stop in-form Victor Osimhen ahead of the crucial African Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Osimhen is expected to lead the Super Eagles attack against Rwanda on Friday, March 21 at the Stade Amahoro Stadium.

The 26-year-old comes into the game on the back of a blistering form for Galatasaray.

The Nigerian striker netted a hat-trick in his last game for Galatasaray against Antalysapor in the Turkish Super Lig.

Maurice believes it is important for Rwanda to keep Osimhen at bay on Friday.

“Osimhen is on fire, and we will try to stop him in this match,” Maurice was quoted as saying by SCORENigeria.

“Nigeria have top-quality players, but we’re not afraid; we only respect them.

“Nigeria have never won in Rwanda. We’re all excited ahead of this match, and our fans will troop out in numbers to support the team.”

Osimhen has racked up 26 goals and five assists for Galatasaray in 30 competitive fixtures this season.
