The Management of Kaduna Electric has said only 450 staff were sacked, contrary to reports (not by MyNigeria) that 900 staff were sacked.
In a statement, the management said the move is part of a comprehensive transformation exercise to ensure the company's long-term sustainability.
"Contrary to claims by labour unions that 900 staff members were affected, the company confirms that "services no longer required" letters were issued to 450 employees," they said.
Kaduna Electric said the decision was made in response to significant operational and financial challenges that had hindered the company's ability to meet its market and operational obligations.
The restructuring is described as a necessary step to align the company with current market realities and create a more efficient workforce.
The management emphasized that the right-sizing initiative alongside capital investment are crucial for implementing impactful measures to improve operations and ensure sustainability.
Kaduna Electric expressed regret over the prolonged power outage caused by the industrial action, which lasted over 24 hours to some of their customers.
The company reiterated their commitment to resolving labor disputes amicably and restoring normal operations as quickly as possible.
The management also thanked security agencies for their support during the industrial action, ensuring the safety of personnel and facilities during this challenging period.

They said the prolonged outage is a result of industrial action related to ongoing labour disputes.
"While we face significant challenges, we are fully dedicated to resolving these matters amicably and restoring electricity as quickly as possible.
"We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding during this time. Please rest assured that we are making every effort to conclude discussions and return operations to normal. Our technical teams are prepared to restore power immediately once the situation is resolved.
"Once again, we offer our unreserved apologies for the disruption and thank you for your continued trust in Kaduna Electric," the management concluded.
