Actor Chidi Mokeme has expressed his disappointment in President Bola Tinubu’s decision to order the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, to provide security for the engineers repairing the damaged transmission lines in the northern region.

There has been a power outage in the north for over a week due to the vandalism of two towers along the 330kV Shiroro–Kaduna transmission lines 1 and 2.

As a result, President Tinubu directed the NSA to deploy sufficient security personnel to ensure the safety of the engineers working on the lines.

This decision comes after many northerners voiced their concerns about the huge losses they are facing because of the power outages.

Taking to his X page, Mokeme criticised the move, questioning why such extensive protection was necessary for the repair work.

He wrote, “So, what we are hearing now is that in order for the ‘damaged’ electricity infrastructure to be fixed, the technicians require the combined protection of the Air Force, Army, Navy, Police, & Vigilante to get to work. Shame! Naija really Jagajaga!”
