Governor Siminalayi Fubara has been shut out of the Rivers State House of Assembly complex in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

Fubara was there to present himself before the assembly members in compliance with the Supreme Court ruling delivered a few days ago.

Speaking to newsmen at the entrance of the shut complex, Fubara stated that his letter and phone calls to the Speaker of the House, Martin Amaewhule, have not been acknowledged.

He said, "Gentlemen of the Press, I am here by myself this morning with a few members of my Executive Council to comply with the Supreme Court Judgement. Before my arrival, I had already made several attempts by phone calls to the Speaker and other members. I also did a letter personally which was transmitted to the Honourable Speaker for this particular invitation but, unfortunately, you can see that the gates are completely sealed and there is no sign anything is going to happen today.

"The reason why we Are doing this, I have always said it's for the interests of our people which is the most important thing. Well, I don't think there is anything to be worried about, maybe they are working on the letter. I expect to hear from them after this."
