Emerging reports indicate that Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara has been locked out of the State House of Assembly by the faction led by Speaker Martins Amaewhule.
This development follows the circulation of viral videos showing Governor Fubara arriving at the assembly complex, only to find it locked. The footage has since been widely shared across various social media platforms.
Addressing the press, Fubara stated that he had made several attempts to contact Speaker Amaewhule, both through phone calls and a formal letter to the House.
"I, along with a few members of my cabinet, came to the House this morning following the Supreme Court judgments. Before my arrival, I had already made several attempts through phone calls and also personally transmitted a letter to the honorable speaker for this particular invitation.
"But unfortunately, upon arrival at the gates, it was clear that the place was completely sealed, with no indication that any proceedings would take place today.
"The reason we are doing this is in the interest of our people, which remains the most important thing. However, I don’t think there’s anything to worry about. Maybe they are working on their response. I expect to hear from them, perhaps later today. Thank you," Fubara said.
