Nigerian Afrobeats singer Seun Kuti has taken a swipe at Biafra agitators who live lavishly outside the country while directing those in Nigeria to fight their battles, resulting in deaths.
He called out Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra; Simon Ekpa, the self-acclaimed Prime Minister of the Republic of Biafra in Exile; and the late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, President of the Republic of Biafra, for being responsible for the bloodshed of the Igbo people.
Kuti’s comments were prompted by the deaths of several individuals who claimed to be fighting for freedom in the southeast.
He criticized the separatist leaders for sending innocent citizens to their deaths while they themselves remain in a foreign country. Kuti lamented the deception and insensitivity of these individuals.
The award-winning artiste berated the leaders, accusing them of wanting to destroy the country and enjoying seeing their people slaughtered.
“Come to Naija, let NEPA take light so you feel it. Let police slap your cousin, slap your wife, and arrest them so you feel it. You keep killing your people since 1967; you have been killing your people. From Ojukwu you master. Deceiving Igbo people, leading them to slaughter.
Aren’t you people tired? Why are you treating your people like that? Eastern leaders, why do you love the blood of your people so much? What’s going on? When will you people slow down and tell yourselves the truth and to your people?
Get them to see the struggle that unifies all of us. Instead of them creating a special victim status for them, making them feel like Nigeria is their enemy. But they don’t know that you men and their friends are their enemy.
Igbo rich men have a flaw, they want to be good by all means. So, regardless, they are all involved. They want to destroy Nigeria. The only way to make billions in Nigeria is to get government contract or get political patronage. All elites are involved in what is destroying this country.”
