A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dele Momodu, has said he won't be surprised if the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) also joins the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Momodu said this amid the defection wind hitting hard on the PDP, in favour of President Bola Tinubu.
Some of the notable defectors include the party's 2023 election vice presidential candidate, Ifeanyi Okowa, who dumped the PDP alongside his successor in Delta State, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
Also, some governors of the PDP have declared support for Tinubu's re-election, hinting at a likely defection to the APC.
MyNigeria also learnt that the 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) Rabiu Kwankwaso, and the vice presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Datti Baba-Ahmed, are in talks to join the APC
Reacting, Momodu told Channels Television's Politics Today, "The game is clear, nothing is new, we have seen it before and it's replaying itself but I am repeating it democracy must be democracy...I will not be surprised tomorrow if INEC declares it has joined APC.''
On Okowa dumping PDP for the APC, Momodu said he was hounded.
'When You talk about our leader Okowa joining APC, I am not surprised. He has been under serious harassment in recent times...What will surprise me is when President Tinubu thinks people are joining the APC because they love him," he said.
