The Nigeria Professional Football League, (NPFL) has fined Nasarawa United N3 million for breaching the NPFL Framework and Rules during their Matchday 18 fixture against Rivers United on December 22, 2024.

The association said Nasarawa breached NPFL 2025 rules following encroachment onto the field of play in the course of the match.

The NPFL said it established that the club failed to ensure proper conduct of their team and supporters.

The association said the failure led to the assault on the away team and centre referee Musibaudeen Ibrahim.

It said the N3 million fine will cover for encroachment onto the pitch, failure to ensure proper conduct of their team and supporters and failure to provide adequate and effective security.

Nasarawa United will also have three points and three goals deducted from its achievement this season.

An order was also given to the club to identify and prosecute those who encroached and assaulted the away team and the referee.

The NPFL further ruled that the Lafia City Stadium will be closed indefinitely to fans until security is enhanced.
