In a high-stakes transfer saga, English powerhouse, Chelsea, have moved to acquire the services of Napoli's prolific striker, Victor Osimhen.
According to renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Blues have already initiated discussions with the Nigerian international's agent about a potential switch to Stamford Bridge.
The 25-year-old, who played a pivotal role in the Partenopei 's triumphant Serie A campaign last season, has emerged as a sought-after commodity in the transfer market.
His impressive performances have attracted the attention of several elite European clubs, but his hefty release clause of around €130 million poses a significant obstacle in negotiations.
Despite Napoli's reluctance to part ways with their prized asset, Osimhen is reportedly eager to explore new challenges, fueled by his ambition and the allure of joining a bigger club. This has set the stage for a fierce tug-of-war between Mauricio Pochettino's side and French giants Paris Saint-Germain.
According to Romano, Chelsea have already contacted Osimhen's representatives to discuss the possibility of a move to West London.
“Chelsea spoke to different agents for the striker position—the agents of Sesko, Osimhen, the agents of different players," he told Mics’ YouTube page, as reported by Daily Post.
However, PSG have also reportedly made significant strides in their pursuit while anticipating the potential departure of Kylian Mbappe. The Ligue 1 champions view Osimhen as a promising replacement and have been actively negotiating with Napoli's management.
As reported by One Football, the Blues are considering a €90 million+ offer, potentially including Romelu Lukaku in the deal.
