Rwanda vs Nigeria: Amavubi suffer massive set back ahead of Super Eagles clash

The Rwanda national team has suffered a major setback ahead of their crucial World Cup qualifier against Nigeria.

Two Amavubi players, Fitina Omborenga and his younger brother Yunusu Nshimiyimana, have been excused from the team's camp after losing their father on Monday, March 17.

Rwanda will host the Super Eagles at the Stade Amahoro in Kigali on Friday, March 21, in the 5th game of the qualifiers.

Omborenga was in the starting lineup when Rwanda stunned Nigeria 2-1 in their last African Cup of Nations qualifier at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.

It remains unclear whether the duo will return in time for the clash against the Super Eagles.

Rwanda currently sits on seven points in the qualifiers campaign and is level on points at the top of Group C with South Africa and the Benin Republic.

The Super Eagles, on the other hand, have managed only three points after four games in the qualifiers series.
