Nigeria's track and field athletes representing the country at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris will not be wearing Nike's kits. This decision comes after the relationship between the Athletics Federation of Nigeria and the kit-making giant ended.

Despite Nike providing kits for the team at the last two World Championships and the 2022 Commonwealth Games, they did not include Nigeria in the list of countries for the Olympic Games.

The athletes wore a different kit at the 2023 African Games in Ghana and used the same at the recently concluded World Relays in the Bahamas.

AFN President Tonobok Okowa mentioned that the federation's marketing partners are in talks with a new kit maker. While he did not disclose the brand's name or contract details, it was learned that the maker is Actively Black, a California-based firm owned by professional basketball player Lanny Smith.

"We have been exploring other options. I am not sure who will kit Team Nigeria, as they will be under the Nigeria Olympic Committee," Okowa said.

"When it comes to the athletes, we are collaborating with another company. Nike has not been cooperative. We used their kits in Oregon and at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. The quality of the kits provided at the World Championships in Budapest was disappointing. If they are not willing to support us, we will not chase after them, especially since there is no financial backing," the AFN president stated.
