Former Chelsea midfielder, Mikel Obi believes his former club should sign another striker despite the late-season form of Senegalese forward Nicolas Jackson.

Jackson helped the London side to a sixth-place finish ahead of Newcastle United and Manchester United, who had a better start to the campaign.

The former Villareal attacker scored 14 goals and delivered 5 assists in the Premier League in just his first season.

However, Mikel Obi believes the club needs a better striker if they are to compete for laurels.

"Are you saying Jackson finished the season well? I agree, he said, as quoted by Wiw Sport. "He runs everywhere and does what he has to do, but we need a goal scorer.

"We need someone who will put the ball in the back of the net. We have to go and spend £100m, and bring in this player. We need a very, very, very good striker who will score goals. We created a lot of chances last season but we didn't convert them, and it cost us games," he added.

Jackson joined the Blues last summer from Villareal but took time to settle. He eventually surpassed legendary striker Didier Drogba's first-season tally at Chelsea, as reported by SportsKeeda.
