President Bola Ahmed Tinubu stated that his government will not forget the actions of Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike when he commissioned projects in Abuja to mark his one year in office.
Tinubu made this statement amidst a political dispute between Wike and Rivers Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, who is his successor.
Recall Leadership newspaper reported the President commissioned the Southern Parkway (S8/S9) from Christian Centre to Ring Road 1, Nnamdi Azikiwe Way, on Tuesday, May 28.
President Tinubu referred to Wike as "Mr. Project" after one of the projects was named the road Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way. "I heard him mention my name as the beneficiary. Thank you very much; thank you for being a very good team leader. We collectively will not let you down," Tinubu said.
This development occurred shortly after Governor Fubara praised former governors Peter Odili and Senator John Mbata. The governor mentioned that their support for his administration has caused confusion within the opposition.
Fubara and Wike had a falling out barely four months into Wike's term as governor of Rivers State, leading to political instability.
After the disagreement between the governor and his predecessor, the Rivers State House of Assembly issued an impeachment notice to the governor, further escalating the political crisis in the state.
Various stakeholders, including President Bola Tinubu, intervened to temporarily reduce the tension in the state.
