Kenneth Okonkwo, a former spokesperson for the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council, has disclosed why he has yet to decide on his political future.
Okonkwo, who recently resigned from the Labour Party, stated that he would only join a political party that genuinely prioritizes the welfare of Nigerians.
He made this known during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today.
“I have not made a decision on the party I want to join. And if I do not see any party with a clear direction on the welfare of the Nigerian people, I will sit back and take it up in prayers.
“I will not join any party unless it aligns with my understanding,” he stated.
The lawyer also criticized the National Chairman of the LP, Julius Abure, for allegedly prioritizing personal interests over the party’s survival.
Speaking on the live program, Okonkwo said every LP member is to blame for the crisis rocking the party’s leadership.
According to him, the situation could have been avoided if members had collectively addressed the core issues causing instability within the party.
He said, “The indecisiveness that plagued the Labour Party was the last straw that broke the camel’s back, and I blame everybody, including myself. We must all take collective responsibility for the anarchy in the Labour Party.
“When I warned that anarchy loomed, we had not yet reached this level. We now have a caretaker committee chosen by all the party’s stakeholders, yet another group of clowns claims to be the leadership. They will use all means to cling to power because they are only looking out for their pockets.”
