The Edo State Governorship Election is currently underway. Residents of Edo are choosing a new leader to succeed Godwin Obaseki whose mandate has come to an end.
A total of 17 candidates are vying for the governorship seat in what is shaping up to be a highly competitive political race.
Asue Ighodalo from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Monday Okpebholo representing the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party (LP) are the three frontrunners in the race.
The polls are taking place across 4,519 polling units spread across the 18 local government areas of Edo State.
