A chieftain of the Labour Party, Aisha Yesufu has reacted after ranking high on the social media platform X Trends.
Aisha and the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero, emerged first and second in the trend on X yesterday evening.
The conversation around Aisha Yesufu spiked after the Labour Party (LP) National Chairman, Julius Abure, said the social commentator and Pastor Itua Ighodalo managed the party’s campaign funds in 2023.
Julius Abure, who is fighting for his position as the National Chairman attempted to exonerate himself from allegations of party fraud and funds mismanagement while addressing the National Executive Council meeting held on Monday in Abuja. He stated that all party funds generated during the campaign were under the management of Aisha Yesufu and Pastor Ituah.
"Even when I am minding my business, I am still trending! Dia fada! Had an amazingly busy day. From being a keynote Speaker at Veritas University to joining Madam Chair Mrs. Nenadi Usman at the Labour House for a meeting and then jetting out of Abuja," she wrote in her reaction on X.
Her response has generated mixed reactions.
Meanwhile, The Julius Abure-led Labour Party has canceled the automatic ticket it previously reserved for the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and Abia State governor, Alex Otti, for the 2027 election.
The party stated that it has thrown open all its tickets, from the presidency to the House of Assemblies, to all qualified Nigerians.
This comes after some leaders of the Labour Party, including Obi, Otti, some elected Senators, and House of Representatives members of the party, met in Umuahia, Abia State last week to appoint a 29-man caretaker committee to lead the party in the interim.
