All Progressive Congress chieftain and Senate Chief Whip, Ali Ndume has been sacked from his position in the Upper Chamber after his criticism of President Bola Tinubu and his administration.
Ndume who represents Borno South Senatorial District has been replaced with Tahir Monguno (Borno North).
This was announced by Senate President, Godswill Akpabio after party senators supported the move during the plenary.
Before the vote, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the national chairman of the APC, and Bashir Ajibola, the party secretary sent a letter that was read during plenary. The APC described his comment as “unguarded utterances” saying it was “against the federal government.”
They stated that Ndume is “someone who is bent on dividing the country” and as someone who is not putting the country in a better position in the international community.
The party subsequently recommended that Mr Ndume’s position in the Senate should be taken over by Mr Monguno.
After reading the letter, the senate president put it to vote and the senators voted overwhelmingly in support of it.
Akpabio approved the recommendation and directed the Sergeant at Arms to walk Monguno to the seat of the senate whip in the front row.
Recall that Ndeme told journalists in Abuja that President Tinubu has been “caged” in the Presidential Villa and that some forces are preventing well-meaning people from physically discussing the truth with him.
He claimed that the situation did not allow the president to know that many Nigerians were hungry.
