Award-winning singer, Davido, has disclosed the nature of his relationship with convicted internet fraudster, Ramon Abbas, popularly known as Hushpuppi.
Speaking in a recent interview, the singer disclosed he was friends with Hushpuppi, but he never knew the source of his wealth.
He disclosed in the interview that the socialite lived life while acknowledging his Hushpuppi’s extravagant lifestyle before his arrest.
The socialite was sentenced to over 11 years in prison in the United States for his involvement in a multi-million-dollar international fraud syndicate.
Reflecting on their past interactions, Davido stated, “My prayers go out to him, he’s my friend. I just used to see him around — I never really knew what he was doing. But he lived a good life.”
The singer also commented on how some individuals prioritize enjoying life in the moment, even if it means facing serious consequences later.
“Some people are okay with enjoying life for a few years, then whatever happens after is fine with them,” he added.
Davido and Hushpuppi were frequently seen together at events and social gatherings prior to the latter’s arrest in 2020, fueling public speculation about their connection. However, the singer has now clarified that their association was purely social.
The interview has sparked discussions online, with fans sharing mixed reactions over Davido’s remarks and his expression of support for Hushpuppi.
