Following the arrest of social media personality Speed Darlington by singer Burna Boy, Paul Okoye has shared his thought on the issue.
It began when Speed Darlington asked Burna Boy if he had any encounters with American rapper P Diddy, who is currently facing charges of sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution.
He demanded to know if the Grammy Award-winning singer was also involved in such activities with Diddy.
Unhappy with by his comments, Burna Boy filed a petition for cyberbullying against him and Darlington was arrested on Friday, October 4, 2024. He was released on bail on Tuesday after much intervention.
Reacting to the situation, Paul Okoye of the defunct Psquare, mentioned that there is a difference between freedom of data and freedom of speech.
Defending Burna Boy, Paul criticized those calling the award-winning singer an oppressor.
He pointed out that people often enjoy making jokes and having fun on social media without considering how their comments affect those individuals they are talking about.
On his social media page, he wrote, “Everything na cruise and jokes until hand touch you.. then they will say you are an oppressor because you think you have money and all… There’s a huge difference between freedom of data and freedom of speech.”
