Investigative journalist and author David Hundeyin has accused controversial social media activist VeryDarkMan of being an opportunist.
During an interview on the Noble Nigeria show, the popular media personality expressed his belief that VeryDarkMan had strayed from his original mission.
Hundeyin explained that VeryDarkMan began as a social media activist, initially calling out celebrities who exploited the masses by accepting money to promote their brands but failing to deliver.
However, he claimed that over time, VeryDarkMan deviated from his original purpose and allowed himself to be influenced and used by high-profile individuals for their own benefit.
Hundeyin pointed out that he formed his opinion about VeryDarkMan being an opportunist and clout chaser when he distorted facts during a terror attack in Jos.
Overall, David Hundeyin believes that VeryDarkMan has lost sight of his initial goals and has become a tool for those seeking to manipulate social media for personal gain.
He said: "I think he’s an opportunist. He started off as an activist, helping people and all that. When I made up my mind about who he is and what he represents was when there was a terror attack in Jos and he went there and started going about saying what he likes.
"He’s an extreme clout chaser who likes to have his own voice or watches till someone is sponsoring him to go and distort a narrative. There was a terror attack and by extension, people are stealing people’s lands but you’re going there to modify the narrative.
"Coming to modify the narrative and talking about whether there’s tin or bauxite isn’t part of your goal. What are you seeking to accomplish with that? Especially when you’re not in any way informed about the issue. You’re just an ordinary guy who puts his phone camera on and starts recording to post online."
