There has been an uproar on social media after the cast lineup for the second season of Anikulapo was released and did not include actor Kunle Remi, best known for his portrayal as Saro in the movie.

Taking to Instagram, filmmaker Kunle Afolayan revealed the cast of Anikulapo's highly awaited second season.

He announced on Monday, October 7, 2024, that the series has been renewed by Netflix following its highly successful first season.

Kunle Afolayan hinted that the upcoming season will go more into Nigerian history and culture, including the transatlantic slave trade.

He wrote, “Unveiling the new stars/talents of Anikulapo series… Back and bigger than ever. Netflix confirms new season of Anikulapo!!!!!

We are thrilled to announce that Netflix has officially renewed Anikulapo for another exciting season!”







Sola Sobowale, Bimbo Ademoye, Gabriel Afolayan, Owo Ogunde, Aisha Lawal, and Eyiyemi Afolayan are among the returning performers.

However, there are concerns since Kunle Remi, who portrayed Saro, the major character in the first season, is missing. Saro's portrayal of a man attempting to better his lot in life but encountering catastrophe as a result of his liaison with Arolake, the king's wife, was vital.

Saro unexpectedly dies, but Akala, a mystical bird with life-giving abilities, gives him life again.

Saro rises in the town of Ojumo thanks to his newfound abilities, but he soon lets his arrogance get the better of him and starts making risky demands to bring the dead back to life.

On September 30, 2022, the first segment of the Netflix original series Anikulapo was released.
