Tunde Onakoya, the celebrated chess player and coach renowned for his transformative Chess in Slums Africa initiative, is making headlines for a more personal reason.
The chess maestro, who in 2022 warmed hearts by sharing a charming video on his X page (formerly Twitter), showcasing his five-month-old relationship with Alma Asinobi, has reportedly parted ways with his girlfriend.
While neither Tunde nor Alma has made an official announcement, whispers of their breakup have quietly surfaced on social media.
Adding a touch of bittersweet nostalgia, popular X influencer Sir Dickson revisited Tunde's 2022 video, pairing it with Adele's poignant lyrics from 'Someone Like You.'"

The clip captured some seriously swoon-worthy moments of the lovebirds in various cozy, love-filled scenes.
However, in a new twist of events, fans and friends of the chess legend have flooded social media with mixed reactions as they questioned what could have gone wrong between the lovebirds.
Tunde’s record-breaking achievements haven’t gone unnoticed. Back in April 2024, the chess superstar smashed the Guinness World Record for the longest chess marathon.
Over an epic 60 hours at Times Square, New York City, he kept the chess pieces moving, outlasting the previous record of 56 hours and 9 minutes set in 2018.
