Nigerian rapper Eedris Abdulkareem has spoken out against the Federal Government's ban on his new anti-Tinubu song, "Tell Your Papa".
According to DAILY POST, the government, through the National Broadcasting Commission, banned the song on Thursday, calling it offensive.
In an Instagram post that same evening, Abdulkareem slammed the government's move as an effort to silence criticism and truth. He compared this ban to the censorship of his famous 2004 protest song Jaga Jaga, claiming that President Tinubu's administration is “insensitive and vindictive.”
Along with sharing the NBC memo about his song, he wrote: “In Nigeria, it’s clear that truth and constructive criticism are seen as serious crimes by the government. President Bola Tinubu’s government is now known for being one of the most insensitive and harmful administrations we’ve had in Nigeria.
“They are telling broadcasters to keep the government’s actions hidden. It makes you wonder why Nigeria hasn’t made real progress over the years. Our conscience is wounded, and only the truth can heal it.”
