Nigerian music star and Grammy award-winning singer Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has decided to delay the release of her music video for "Burning" out of respect for the ongoing hunger protests in Nigeria.
Tems initially announced that the highly anticipated music video for her song "Burning" would premiere on August 1, at 6pm WAT.
However, with the nationwide protests scheduled to begin on August 1, 2024, she decided that it would not be the perfect timing to launch such a project.
The nation is currently facing widespread economic challenges, and people are taking to the streets to demand change.
In a recent tweet, Tems expressed her decision and offered prayers for those protesting against economic hardship. She wrote:
"Out of respect for the ongoing protest at home 🇳🇬, I have decided to postpone the release of the 'Burning' music video. Praying for the safety of those outside at this time. May the voice of the people be heard."
Her decision to postpone the music video has generated positive responses from fans and followers, who have praised her for showing solidarity with the protesters.
