Grammy award-winning artiste Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, widely known as Burna Boy, has spoken out about his position on the ongoing nationwide hunger protests, linking it to the EndSARS protest of 2020.
The "Odogwu" singer took to his X page to share his thoughts on the current protests.
He revealed that his will to fight for the country's betterment disappeared after the events of October 10, 2020, when Nigerians took to the streets to protest against police brutality under the popular hashtag #EndSARS.
Burna Boy expressed his belief that Nigerians are not worth fighting for, as they tend to backstab those who champion their causes.
Responding to an old tweet from October 10, 2020, he wrote, "The fight in me died on this day. Ogun go doggy anybody wey call my name this time around."
However, many followers and fans were unimpressed with his stance during the current national crisis.
One user, Boymanaager, confronted the singer, reminding him of his lyrics. He wrote, "Oga shut up.. Because they did you bad doesn't mean you give up. You taught us to keep fighting in your songs but you fey here dey cap nonsense."
Burna Boy quickly replied, "I taught you to keep fighting your oppressors but you chose to fight me."
His comments on the ongoing situation in Nigeria have generated backlash from his followers and fans.
