Veteran Nigerian musician Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Face or 2Baba has expressed his pain over online criticisms following the controversy surrounding his separation from his longtime wife, Annie Macaulay.
Speaking in a recent interview, the singer admitted that negative social media comments "get to him" and can be hurtful.
However, he explained that he has been working on developing a tough skin to cope with the criticism.
Recall that the singer made headlines after announcing his separation from Annie and confirming his relationship with Natasha Osawaru, the Deputy Majority Leader of the Edo State House of Assembly.
Reflecting on his experience, 2Baba said, "I think part of the answer lies in accepting responsibility for your actions. That is key. You don’t have to deceive yourself because when you deceive yourself, you’re only fooling yourself. For me, I just realized that I have to stand up, face my responsibility, and own it."
He continued, "Sometimes, things happen, and people talk—then you become the subject of jokes, headlines, and malicious comments. It hurts, man. It gets to you sometimes. But knowing that this is how the world works, you just have to grow thick skin. You have to keep your head high because where you’re going is bigger and better than all this negativity."
The musician emphasized the importance of resilience, saying, "That negativity doesn’t define me. It doesn’t make me a bad person or a monster. You have to cheer yourself up, blank out the noise, and move forward."
