Grammy Award winner Wizkid is emotional as he celebrates the birthday of his late mother, Jane Dolapo, today, July 4.

According to the singer, this was the first time he was celebrating his mother's birthday without her on earth, and it felt "unreal." He expressed how much he missed her, noting that nothing made sense without her.

Wizkid mentioned that his heart was forever broken, and he prayed that his late mother would continue to watch over them. He also said he would always cherish his mother's smile, laugh, hugs, and kisses.

He wrote: "Happy birthday love of my life! Miss you everyday. First one without you here feels unreal. Nothing makes sense without you mama! Life is empty without you. Continue to watch over us ! My heart is broken forever! love you love love you MORAYO mi. Your smile is all a memory I will never forget. Your laugh! Your hugs and kisses. I miss you dearly!"

Fans of the afrobeats singer took to his comment section to extend their condolences and prayers, hoping that the Lord continues to strengthen him.

Jane Dolapo, the mother of Wizkid, departed this life early on Friday, August 18, 2023.

As celebrities and ardent fans of Wizkid conveyed their sympathies and well wishes to the artist over the loss, the Nigerian music world was thrown into disarray.

The singer's mother was considered to be extremely important to his rise as a worldwide celebrity. She was frequently seen attending her son's concerts to support his musical endeavours. In his song Joy, Wizkid himself called her an enormous help to his career.
