Nigerian singer, Joseph Akinwale Akinfenwa-Donus popularly known as Joeboy has responded to critics who have called his songs "mediocre."

In an appearance on the podcast "Backstage Banter" recently, the "Adenuga" crooner claimed that neither his life nor his job are "mid."

Joeboy underlined that his early accomplishments demonstrate his dedication and hard work, implying that people who criticize him might be projecting their own discontent. Additionally, Joeboy contested the meaning of "mid," arguing that it is only a trendy term used to denigrate others.

He said, “There is nothing ‘mid’ about my existence. The fact that I have been able to get so far at such a young age in my career and still have my head on my shoulders is not ‘mid’ in any way.

I also feel like the people criticizing me are generally not happy with life. Because if you’re genuinely happy with your life, you would not pick up your phone and start attacking somebody.

What exactly is ‘mid’? I think it was just a word that got too popular, and people just started using it."
