Court adjourns Falana’s case against VeryDarkMan to April 15

The alleged defamation case brought by Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Femi Falana and his son Folarin, popularly known as Falz against activist Martins Vincent Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan has been adjourned to April 15, 2025.

The court presided over by Justice Matthias Dawodu suspended the case at the request of VeryDarkMan after receiving a letter from his legal representatives, the law firm of Deji Adeyanju & co.

In the letter, the firm requested a continuance due to the absence of the lead defence counsel, Marvin Omorogbe, who was reportedly unavailable due to a domestic emergency.

While VeryDarkman was absent in court, Falana was present. Counsel for the Falanas, Omotayo Olatunbosun, claimed that the letter was merely a strategy by the defendant to waste time.

Upon the court’s prompting of the court, the counsel moved his counter-affidavit challenging the preliminary objection filed by VeryDarkMan to the defamation suit.

Following the development, Justice Dawodu adjourned the case to April 15, 2025, for a hearing.

The Falanas filed the case against VeryDarkMan over a controversial voice recording he released last year in which crossdresser Bobrisky allegedly claimed to have spoken with Falz while he was in prison, stating that he gave a certain Senior Advocate of Nigeria N10m to help secure a Federal Government pardon.

In April 2024, Bobrisky was sentenced to six months in jail for abusing the Naira.
