Former Real Madrid star Alvaro Morata has praised Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen following his goal for Galatasaray in their 5-1 bashing of Eyupspor on Sunday, Soccernet.ng reports.
Osimhen led the line for Galatasaray when they traveled to the Recep Tayyip Erdogan Stadyumu to play Eyupsor in their 31st Super Lig game of the season. Osimhen has been superb for The Lions since joining last summer, and he was expected to continue shinning.
Despite their prowess, it was expected to be a tough game for Galatasaray, as Eyupsor were just four places below them on the league table. However, Osimhen and his teammates made light work of Eyupsor on their home turf.
Osimhen assisted Roland Sallai’s opener in the 29th minute. Then, in the second half, Galatasaray took Eyupsor apart. Lucas Torreira and Osimhen scored within 26 minutes of the restart. Then, the home side pulled one back, courtesy of Luccas Claro. However, Morata, who was a 67th-minute substitute did the remaining damage, as he scored twice in three minute to seal the win for the reigning Turkish champions.
What Alvaro Morata said about Victor Osimhen
After the game, Morata was asked about his thoughts about Osimhen, and he admitted that he was quite impressed with the 26-year-old Super Eagles star.
“Osimhen is a great person and one of the best centre forwards in the world,” Morata said, per Sports Digitale.
“I hope we will all celebrate the championship together. This is an incredible country, my family is very happy here, I want it to continue like this.”
Following their win against Eyupspor, Galatasaray now have 80 points, five points ahead of second-place Fenerbahce. With five games left to play, they just need to win four to be crowned champions once more.
