Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has urged the Gunners to believe in their ability to defeat Real Madrid in the quarterfinals of this season's UEFA Champions League after both teams advanced from the round of 16.
Arsenal triumphed over PSV Eindhoven with a dominant 9-2 aggregate win, despite a 2-2 draw with the Eredivisie side at the Emirates Stadium.
Real Madrid, on the other hand, edged Atletico Madrid 4-2 on penalties after the two legs ended in a 2-2 draw.
The upcoming clash marks the first meeting between Arsenal and Real Madrid in 19 years, since Thierry Henry famously led the Gunners to a stunning 1-0 victory over Los Blancos at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Henry believes that Mikel Arteta's side must approach the tie with confidence and avoid an inferior mindset.
“I’ve been in that situation with a team that had slightly less talent, to be honest. When we drew Real Madrid, everyone laughed, especially in Spain," Henry said.
"If you go there believing you cannot beat Real Madrid—that they are already better than you, with a better team, better squad, and 15 Champions League titles compared to none—you may as well not even play. You need to believe you can beat them,” he added.
