Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has issued a subtle warning to the Super Eagles team ahead of their upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifier matches.

The Super Eagles will take on Rwanda on Friday, March 21 at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali before returning home to face Zimbabwe four days later.

The three-time African champions currently find themselves in a challenging position, having secured just three points from four matches in the qualifiers campaign.

Nigeria sit in fifth place in Group C, ahead of only Lesotho, while trailing Rwanda, Benin Republic, and South Africa, all on seven points.

Osimhen, who is expected to lead the team's attack has urged the team to guide against any form of complacency and remain focused ahead of the upcoming qualifiers.

“Names no longer win matches, and you must be ready and switched on for the duration of the games. We will be playing for our country, our family names and the hopes of almost 300 million people, the 26-year-old told BBC Sports.

“It is not the pressure that we face but the desire to not let ourselves and the country down. Playing at the World Cup is a priority, and we must make it happen this time around,” Osimhen concluded.

Osimhen has netted 23 goals from 36 outings for Nigeria since making his debut for the Super Eagles.
