Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has disclosed that he is currently focused on the World Cup qualifiers in March and not the 2025 African Cup of Nations.
Sharing his thoughts on the 2025 AFCON draw, which was held in Rabat, Morocco, the Franco-Malian coach stated that his current attention is on preparing the Super Eagles for the all-important World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.
Currently sitting 5th with three points after four games in Group C of the qualifiers, the three-time African champions cannot afford to drop any more points in the remaining six fixtures.
Nigeria will face Rwanda (A), Zimbabwe (H), Rwanda (H), South Africa (A), Lesotho (A), and Benin (H).
“There is no little team in the AFCON; you need to be focused. Right now, I’m focused on my players, on my team, and on March,” Chelle said, per Pooja Media.
“We need to be focused on the World Cup Qualifiers. Then in October, we will think about the AFCON. But now, we need to win two games in March.”
Nigeria has been pitted in Group C in the 2025 AFCON alongside Tunisia, Uganda, and Tanzania.
