The Super Eagles of Nigeria ended 2024 as the 5th best team on the African continent in the latest FIFA rankings for national teams.

The three-time African champions finished the year ahead of rivals Ghana, South Africa, and Cameroon.

Despite finishing 5th on the continent, Nigeria dropped in the global rankings due to defeats in some key matches, including the last game against Rwanda.

Morocco maintained their number one place in Africa, with Senegal, Egypt, and Côte d'Ivoire rounding out the top five.

Côte d’Ivoire, Cameroon, Mali, Tunisia, and South Africa completed the top 10 teams in Africa.

Argentina retained their position as FIFA’s top-ranked team, followed by France, Spain, England, and Brazil.

The Super Eagles will return to action in the World Cup qualifiers, which will resume in March next year.
