Head coach of the Elephants of Côte d'Ivoire, Emerse Fae, has tipped Nigeria's Ademola Lookman to win the 2024 African Footballer of the Year award.
The 2024 CAF Awards will be held later tonight (Monday, December 16) in Marrakech, Morocco.
The Super Eagles star, who had a remarkable campaign with Atalanta and Nigeria, will compete with Simon Adingra, Achraf Hakimi, Ronwen Williams, and Serhou Guirassy for the prestigious award.
Fae, who guided the Elephants of Ivory Coast to win the 2023 African Cup of Nations, believes Lookman deserves to win the prestigious award.
“I wish it’s Adingra because he’s my player, but Ademola Lookman deserves it. He played very well and scored goals at the AFCON and also did well for his club Atalanta, scoring three goals in the Europa League finals,” he told Ojb Sports.
Nigeria's Victor Osimhen won the award last year after a remarkable 2022/2023 campaign with Napoli.
