Kylian Mbappe has taken full responsibility for missing his second consecutive penalty for Real Madrid in their defeat away at Athletic Bilbao in La Liga.
Ernesto Valverde's side beat Los Blancos 2-1 at the San Mames to maintain their impressive home form in La Liga.
Alex Berenguer gave Bilbao the lead in the 53rd minute before Jude Bellingham equalized for Carlo Ancelotti's side in the 77th minute.
Gorka Guruzeta restored Bilbao's lead three minutes later after capitalizing on Federico Valverde's mistake.
The result leave Real Madrid four points behind leaders Barcelona with a game in hand against Valencia.
After the game, Mbappe, who has come under severe backlash following two consecutive penalty misses against Liverpool and Athletic Bilbao took to his social media to express his disappointment.
“Bad result. A big mistake in a match where every detail count,” the former PSG star wrote on Instagram.
“I take FULL responsibility for it”.
