Former Super Eagles captain Jay-Jay Okocha has explained that he did not conduct enough research before making his move to Bolton Wanderers in 2002 from French giants Paris Saint-Germain.
Following his performance for Nigeria at the 2002 FIFA World Cup in Korea/Japan, coach Sam Allardyce showed interest in signing Austin Okocha then for Bolton.
Despite Nigeria's failure to qualify for the knockout stages at the 2002 World Cup, Sam Allardyce was still convinced about having Okocha in his squad.
Okocha eventually joined Bolton and established himself as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.
According to the report on Pulse, Okocha claimed that he should have made enough consultations before moving to Bolton.
Okocha speaks about Bolton's move
“I will say that it’s obvious that I didn’t really do my research before signing for Bolton.
“As a football person, football comes first, not the city, not the lifestyle, but one thing that’s clear is that the training ground was different, the attitude towards the games was different.''
