Manchester United's hope of landing Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has been dealt a huge blow.

According to widespread reports, the Serie A top scorer is likely to extend his stay at the Naples-based club putting to bed all transfer speculations surrounding the 24-year-old.

Napoli chief Aurelio de Laurentiis has disclosed that the Super Eagles striker has agreed to extend his contract for two more years.

His current deal expires in June 2025 after joining the club on a five-year deal from Ligue 1 side Lille in 2020.

“We have an agreement in principle with Victor Osimhen to extend his contract for two more years,” the Italian club owner noted as quoted by GOAL.

Osimhen is a prime transfer target for some of the top European clubs this summer following his phenomenal season with Napoli.

The former Lille striker guided Napoli to its first Scudetto title since 1990.

Osimhen scored 26 Serie A goals in 32 appearances to win the Capocannoniere award, becoming the first African player to achieve this historic feat.

His remarkable performance has attracted interest from Manchester United, Chelsea, PSG, Bayern Munich, among other European elite European clubs.
