Super Eagles vice-captain William Troost-Ekong could miss Nigeria's Nations Cup qualifier clash against Guinea-Bissau, as per reports.
The 29-year-old is racing against time to return to fitness ahead of next month's two-legged affair against the Djurtus.
Troost-Ekong sustained an injury in Salernitana's 1-0 home defeat to Hellas Verona in the Italian Serie A last week and was withdrawn with seven minutes to end of proceedings.
In a statement, the Serie A side confirmed Troost-Ekong's injury but failed to disclose the extent of the injury.
“The US Salernitana 1919 communicates that William Troost-Ekong underwent an MRI and CAT scan at the Centro Polidiagnostico Check-Up which showed a fracture of the tibial plateau following a blunt trauma,” the club stated on their official website.
The Super Eagles will play host to Guinea-Bissau at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja on March 24 before the return fixture takes place four days later.
