Head coach of Mali, Tom Saintfiet, has named the Super Eagles of Nigeria among his two favorites to win the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Super Eagles were finalists in the last edition, where the three-time African champions lost 2-1 to hosts Ivory Coast.
Nigeria has already secured qualification for the next edition, which will kick off later this year in Morocco.
Eric Chelle's side has been drawn alongside Tunisia, Uganda, and Tanzania in the group phase.
Speaking in a recent interview about AFCON, Tom Saintfiet, who replaced Eric Chelle as Mali's head coach, tipped the Super Eagles and Morocco as the two favorites to win the competition.
“You cannot have 23; you can have 46 players who can become African champions,” Saintfiet said.
“For me, [Nigeria], together with Morocco, are the big favorites for AFCON but also for going to the World Cup.”
