Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen was linked with a move to English Premier League side Manchester United in the summer, but the move failed to materialise, due to some reasons.
The Super Eagles star had a stunning season with Napoli in the last campaign as he led them to their first Scudetto in over three decades.
Osimhen's performance for the Partenopei caught the eyes of several top clubs in Europe, especially Premier League sides Chelsea and Manchester United.
The former Lille star opted to stay in Italy, and has scored three goals in the Italian Serie A this season.
Why Osimhen did not join Manchester United
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano during Monday’s Debrief podcast for Caughtoffside, reveals why the Red Devils missed out on signing the Nigerian international.
???? EXCLUSIVE ????#MUFC are very happy with the signing of Rasmus Hojlund despite links with the likes of Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen, who could perhaps have been realistic targets if a takeover had been completed before the summer

"With the takeover, they may have had the chance to go for superstar players, there were links with players like Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen, but it wasn’t possible with their financial situation," he said.
"This could have been an issue, links for that kind of player couldn’t materialize, and they had to go with a different strategy."
Romano also confirmed that he does not have any news about some players rejecting a move to Erik ten Hag's side.
"I don’t have any news on the players rejecting United because of the takeover, it’s something normal in football," he added.
